Chambers and Frederic Eames, according to Leanne Langley, the Dramatic and Musical Review “enjoyed some success because it appealed to a mixed audience of popular music- and theatre-lovers and professional as well as semi-professional musicians.” Regularly attacked by the poison-penned James William Davison in The Musical Examiner as “The Dramatic and Musical Puddle,” the Dramatic and Musical Review largely focused on concert, operatic and theatrical reviews, musical news and gossip.
